October 26, 2024
Conch horns are one of the oldest instruments both ceremonially and historically. The embodiment of the spiral that reaches far into our selves and out to the heavens and earth. The sound of the shells is one of only two instruments called “The voice of God”, also called the “Sound of creation”, “Primordial sound” and the sound of “Turning wheel of dharma”.
On this day we will come together in ceremony to commune with this ancient teacher. We will begin the day drawing threads from the deep past and rich history of stories from around the world. After lunch we will weave into the present with attuning ourselves with some nada yoga practices then into the ceremonial and spiritual uses of the conch. You will learn personal preparations to do before playing, and the techniques for the different calls with time to practice. The day will ending with a travel up the mountain for a group call to say good night to the Sun, to carry these practices forward.
We will be indoor for most of the day, with practice time and the closing call done outside. Remember to bring seasonally appropriate attire. Lunch and dinner will be out and about in Woodstock, feel free to bring snacks or your own food.
